Mark Khaisman’s Tapeworks
I recently wandered through the Philadelphia International Airport on a 2-hour layover and happened to find Mark Khaisman’s display of his “Tape Noir” collection. Pretty sweet stuff. Lately we’ve seen tape art exploding all over the place. (it’s my favorite form of graffiti) But Mark Khaisman’s art is definitely not graffiti.
Mark uses packing tape in layers upon layers to create shading and places all of it on top of a back-lit white acrylic panel to make it all pop out at you. The pic above “You’d do anything for me, huh?” is one of the ones I had the opportunity to see.. but after viewing more of his images here I can’t really decide if my favorite is series 4, “Don’t Waste the Pretty” or his 2009 collection, There’s a frame missing buster.
