We were just turned onto the Copenhagen Wheel by one of our friends and now I want one. It’s a wheel that turns your regular bike into a hybrid e-bike and gives you feedback and data on your cycling expeditions. Check out the teaser below to see why I’m in love with it already.

Found this shawl on the homepage of Etsy this morning. I was impressed with the couture quality look of the shawl and styling of the photography. It was hand-felted and shaped out of merino wool by Vaida Petreikiene of Lithuania, otherwise known as vart on Etsy.

This next view of it as a ruff reminds me of my costume history studies of the mid-sixteenth century. A beautiful classic that I thought needed to be spotlighted.

You can see the etsy listing here.

I was randomly inspired today while eating an avocado for breakfast. Yes, that may...

I was randomly inspired today while eating an avocado for breakfast. Yes, that may seem weird to you, but you just don’t understand how much I love avocados. I took the first bite and within what seemed like seconds, the entire avocado had disappeared. It was perfect, ripe, soft, delectable, with a dash of lime juice.

Therefore, for my design inspiration today, I went to Etsy and searched “avocado”. What will follow are my favorite findings thus far.

First would be this Avocado Cucumber Cream Goatmilk Soap by Catherine Filipelli (gosh I hope I spelled that right). Handmade with Shea and Avocado and the first descriptive words used were “ultra-creamy”. Ok I’m sold. Check out her Etsy Shop for this and other delights at $6/bar of soap.

Second, this avocado colored circle scarf cowl. Perfect for a chilly day like it is today here in Fort Collins where my thermostat is reading a balmy -2 degrees. Maybe you don’t love avocados quite as much as me? Don’t worry, you can custom request a scarf in these other flavors, err.. colors: coconut creme, pumpkin, cilantro, barley, citron… etc.

These avocado hued owls are quite adorable and are vintage shapes from the WWII era in Germany. Alisaw snatched them up in a variety of colors and turned them into these adorable earrings. Check out her shop here to grab these or any of her other items.

This piece of mixed media artwork by Lucia Johnson came up in my search due to its avocado colored background, to which she adds cut out pieces of paper, along with paint, and who knows what else. It’s all compiled on a vintage window pane, with the background being on a piece of wood attached to the back, creating a 3-dimensional feel.

So, now we know that you can wash yourself in avocado, wear avocado, bejewel yourself with avocado and even paint with avocado. I could go on and on about the avocado items. One simple search came up with 91 pages worth of handmade items. There were avocado shaped earrings and even an avocado guitar. I don’t lie, I promise. Maybe you should search for your own favorite food and see what goodies are unsurfaced. Make sure to share your favorites with me.

LOOOOOVE this vase from Jung Hwajin, a South Korean designer who takes an interesting look...

LOOOOOVE this vase from Jung Hwajin, a South Korean designer who takes an interesting look at everyday items.

His quote on the piece? “We hang a polaroid with a small cord and a clothespin. arising from a desire of keeping the memories,
I feel longing today.Nature is also what I want to keep for a long time.it is a plant in a polaroid.
The illumination is for the plant, and the gentle curved shape will seem to be an image of a polaroid.”

Jung says that he likes to travel alone so that he has time to pay attention to the world around him. He looks for never-seen scenery rather than familiar ones and says that his experiences can be translated into other types of senses.

Check out this lighting fixture in which he takes a plain shape and morphs it into something incredible. You can see the rest of his work on his website
